Case Study: Great Chart

Client:

Private Residential

Location:

Kent

Project value:

£1m

The design for this project was inspired by the Sissinghurst Castle Garden and aimed to integrate both old and modern architecture. The exterior is clad in vertical black timber, which references back to Hasting's historic net huts and black clad home of Dungeness.

We carried out all the joinery work on the project from the external black spray finish timber cladding to large parts of the block-designed property. The floating design is exaggerated by the same black cladding lining to the underside of the overhang sections. Some of the black cladding was used on the internal lightwell/garden space but internally to the building within the glazed circular corridor space. We also carried out the work on the dining room cupboards, which were spray finished MDF doors.

The building was one of five in the South East to win 2018 regional architecture awardsby the Royal Institute of British Architects (Riba).
